A pioneer of contemporary art, his career had a great international influence.
Born in Rosario on February 19th, 1899, this Italian-Argentine painter and sculptor was a revolutionary artist who not only was part of the European avant-garde, but also left a distinct mark on local art. Son of the Italian sculptor Luis Fontana and the local actress Lucía Bottini, he was part of a family with an artistic tradition, especially in painting and sculptures. He lived in Rosario for three periods that total two decades of his life of 69 years. He participated in many exhibitions in Europe and the East, including London, Paris and New York. His works, as well as his legacy, are found in several points in the city.
