A Juana Elena Blanco

Built in 1925, this bronze sculpture was the first great autonomous work by Fontana in Rosario.

The “The People of Rosario to Juana Elena Blanco” was a tribute of the city to the teacher that gave so much to children and education. This bronze sculpture made up of three figures, the teacher and two children, was set in "El Salvador" Cemetery in 1927. Lucio was 26 years old then, and this youthful work has a plastic sense carried out with a diversity of ideas. It is worth mentioning that he stressed the hair and the folds of the woman’s clothes with a continuous line strongly incised in the bronze that can now be associated with a similar expressive resource that would be recurrent in the future.
