In the 1920s, in this traditional corner, the "Cafe Bar y Casin La Capilla" opened its doors. Initially, it was a general store that stood as the epicenter of the neighborhood's life.
Towards the 1930s, it became the meeting place for bus drivers, laborers, bricklayers, and other workers in the area.
The classic bar stood out because almost all its regulars were men, who shared long hours between pool and casin tables, card games, beers, vermouth, coffee, and the music of the jukebox.
In Carnival days, when the comparsas filled the streets with music and color, the beginning of the masquerade dances was announced from the terrace of the bar.
Over the years, the building had different owners until 2021, when El Mercantil canteen was opened there, intended for members of the Association of Trade Employees of Rosario.
