Centro Asturiano

Alberto Olmedo started his acting career here.

“Olmedo was a great acrobat, but he loved the stage,” says his friend Martínez, and he recalls that Alberto started his acting career at Centro Asturiano, in mid-1948. He then joined the Troupe Juvenil Asturiana, and performed on the same stage that is now named after Alberto Olmedo. One of his partners from those years, Nora Gasparini, says: “We formed a beautiful group; we sang, we danced, we had a great time.” She also states that when he became famous, in his performances, Olmedo usually did some Spanish dance steps that he learnt at the Asturiano.
