Cervecería Schlau

It was opened in 1858 as New Brewery, being the first German beer in the city, on the corner of Entre Rios St. and Catamarca St.

After several changes of owners and names, it was renamed as Cervecería Schlau, and in 1914, a new, more modern plant was built on Brown St., between Francia Ave. and Vera Mujica St. Nowadays, some of the structures of the old plant, such as the fireplace, the storage silos, and part of the railway sidings used for the distribution of goods, can still be seen.

During the 1940s, the company was nationalized by the Peronist government. In 1959, it went back to private capitals, operating until 1978 as Cervecería Rosarina Schlau S.A.

After being unoccupied for several years, the property was converted into the iconic Punta Brown disco in the early 1990s. Currently, part of the structure of the plant coexists with different objects from the brewery such as bottles, openers, napkin holders, and so on. Over the years, different gastronomic ventures have been added to the old brewery, giving value to a flagship factory in the city.
