On February 7, 1812 Manuel Belgrano arrives at Pago de los Arroyos together with his troops.
For this one time, Belgrano left the carriage he used to travel in because of his illness and rode a horse. He was welcomed by Colonel Ángel Monasterio, Mayor Alejo Grandoli and Pedro Moreno with his fellow troop members.
Belgrano and his troops marched into Calle Real (current Buenos Aires Street),accompanied by Rosario Forces, to Plaza Mayor (now Plaza 25 de Mayo, a square).
Argentina 's Independence Dream, although not approved by the central government, which remained loyal to Ferdinand VII of Spain, had already become Belgrano’s driving aspiration.
