Manuel Musto was one of Rosario's most famous impressionist painters. His work marked a break away from academic painting conventions.
Before he died, he stated in his will the donation of a large part of his property to the city: his paintings, currently exhibited in the "Juan B. Castagnino" Municipal Museum of Fine Arts, money for an art encouragement award, and his Saladillo house-studio to open a school where "workers, artisans, and all those with an artistic vocation could cultivate their spirit." Thus, since October 12th, 1945, it houses the "Manuel Musto" Municipal School of Plastic Arts, with day and night classes, and 800 annual students. Its original facade, painted with bold saturated colors, has a modern expanded upper floor.
