From 1927 onwards, this imposing building, a property that occupies a whole block where the former stables were located on 1º de Mayo Street, was the headquarters of the police squadron.
In January 1970, the Sapper Fire Department was also located here, and in 1975, the Santa Fe Police Academy began to function here, too. Nowadays, it houses the Institute of Public Safety.
The dimensions of the property, as well as the administrative body located on the corner of Ituzaingo and Alem Streets, show the importance of the building. The entrance is outstanding, marked by a giant order of Ionic columns that frame the door, ending in a great tower with several levels and a dome covered with zinc slates and oculi on its four sides.
