Next to the Gigante de Arroyito, a plaque pays tribute to this famous “canalla”.
Olmedo was not a soccer supporter who would recite the forwards of a team from 10 years ago. Nevertheless, he always proudly declared that he was from Rosario & a Central supporter (i.e. a "canalla"). The Municipality itself acknowledged this in 1995 when, with the unanimous vote of the Municipal Council, declared the corner of Génova & Cordiviola Streets (the corner of Rosario Central stadium) Alberto Olmedo’s Corner. There, a commemorative plaque states that Olmedo was a “famous canalla” who transmitted popular culture with joy.
