This sculpture pays tribute to Olmedo in the neighborhood were he was born.
The bronze statue was erected in April 2007 in the intersection of Pueyrredón and Rivadavia streets, the closest area to the river of Pichincha neighborhood. The sculpture represents Olmedo's figure in actual size in a square bench, with the relaxed posture que used to adopt in “Álvarez and Borges” sketch (with Javier Portales, his dear partner, who also lived in Rosario during his childhood). On one side, there is a small wall showing the images of the rest of his characters: Manosanta, General González, Rogelio Roldán, Rucucu and Capitán Piluso.Today, most of the tourists visiting Rosario go to this bench and take a photo with our beloved Negro Olmedo in the neighborhood where he was born.
