It was Ángel Tulio Zof, a distinguished youth football trainer and coach, the one who led him to his debut in first division. He played in the 2005 Opening Tournament wearing the number 37 jersey, being only 17 years old.
Playing for Rosario Central, he competed in a total of 39 official football matches and he scored 6 goals. It didn’t take long for him to leave the team after his outstanding participation in the 2007 U-20 World Cup in which Argentina won the championship. His first European destination was Benfica Football Club (Portugal).
After settling in the old continent, Ángel called his father and told him to close the charcoal business. This was a goodwill gesture to give his family back all the love and effort they had put in to jump-start his career.
