Racecourse Independencia

Preceding the park, the impressive racecourse was opened with a race on December 8th, 1901.

The foreman and vice chairman of the Jockey Club was Luis Lamas. The project went to the engineer Héctor Thedy and one year later, the racecourse was visited by the president Julio A. Roca. For a long time, the national celebrations in the city had special equine schedules. It was the first racecourse in the country to perform night races. In 1957, the jockey Ángel Barattucci won the eight races in dispute constituting a world record.

At present, it still holds horse races and is occasionally used for musical shows.
