During the last civic-military dictatorship, policemen, army officers, and prison guards would take political prisoners who were about to give birth to Martin Maternity Hospital.
Women recount that the repressive forces would enter the operating room armed, they’d avoid questions from the medical staff, forbid any kind of birth records, and obliterate any trace of their presence at the hospital. Even in a context of violence and repression, health care professionals were able to help women in labor, their babies and families with small but essential gestures of humanity.
