Memorial Museum

This building was originally the residence of the De Lorenzi family.

As time went by, it served different uses: it housed the headquarters of the Second Corps of the Army during the country's civil-military dictatorship (1976-1983), several official offices and a well-known bar, among other uses. Since December 2011, it has housed the Memorial Museum.

The architect replicates some of the guidelines used in the Prats residence, located across the street. Like the latter, it is attached to the building line on Cordoba St. and proposes a garden on the corner with Moreno St.

In the interior, it has a different organizing axis from the one seen from the outside. Both schemes are finally integrated in the staircase of complex spatial resolution with elaborate landings.

Like the neighboring building, the garden is separated from the sidewalk, but in this case by a railing, reflecting a more modern design. This is also evident in the decorative elements, both inside and on the facade, distinctive of the art-deco style.
