In 1877, Jose Nicolas Puccio, owner of the lands of the Alberdi village, informed the Bishop of Parana about the donation of a land lot for the construction of the first Catholic temple in the area, initially dedicated to Saint Rose of Lima. In 1881, the first chapel opened its doors to the parishioners.
A few decades later, in 1919, when the village was officially incorporated into the city of Rosario, it was decided to change the name of the temple, since there was another church with the same name in the city. Since then, the temple was renamed as the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
The current building was built in 1924 on the initiative of the Echesortu and Rouillon families, more precisely by the children of Ciro Echesortu and Hortensia de Larrechea Echesortu, fulfilling the wish of their parents. Built in Neo-Gothic style, it has an axial organization, with a main longitudinal nave, preceded by an access area that includes the atrium and the bell tower. Near the entrance, there is a statue of Jesus mounted on two imposing columns.
