This square has been an important spot for the neighborhood's social life. Around it, there are different heritage buildings: the Nuestra Señora de la Merced Church and School, the Aristobulo del Valle School, and the Villa Dolores Mansion.
This picturesque mansion is distinguished by breaking with classical symmetry, incorporating contrasting volumes, multi-gable roofs, and exposed materials with references to English folk architecture.
In order to give the neighborhood identity, the Sociedad Anonima del Saladillo ordered the construction of the Church that stands out for its important facade. It has the same structure as the Notre Dame Church in Paris. Its foundation stone was laid in 1909 by Architect Rafael Maria Gutierrez. The bells and mosaics were brought from Germany, and inside the church there are colorful stained-glass windows that provide great luminosity. Today, it is the main temple in the neighborhood, and on September 24th, the traditional Feast of Our Lady of Mercy is celebrated, gathering a large number of parishioners.
