The neighborhood has some French and English airs on its western edge. There, the French railway left its mark on the current Mariano Moreno Bus Station. The corner of Cafferata and Santa Fe Streets has been the gateway to and from the city since the 19th century.
In 1828, there was no commercial area nor the current activity, but at that time the Santa Fe Provincial Railway Station operated there, and through French concessionaires, provided the train service to the provincial capital. The current image and French features appeared in 1928, with the construction of the building as it is known, designed by architects Micheletti and Chanourdie.
On the corner, the head of the building has an octagonal structure, on which a tower of one hundred and seventy-four steps was located. The walls of the structure are perforated by small skylights shaped like petals that allow light to pass through the four cardinal points. It is crowned by a black-slate dome.
In 1950, the building was remodeled and adapted to be a medium and long-distance bus station under the name of "Mariano Moreno."
