It is the most important museum outside Buenos Aires. Its 31 rooms exhibit about 3,000 pieces.
It has two permanent exhibitions: “European Paintings from the 15th to the 20th Centuries” and “Argentine Painting: from its Origins to the Present Day”. These include works by Ribera, Goya, Van Heemskerk, Zubiaurre, Sorrolla, Sisley, Daubigny, Prilidiano Pueyrredón, Fader, Petorutti, Spilimbergo, Guttero, Quinquela Martín, Berni, Soldi, Musto, Schiavoni, Ouvard, Guido, Lucio Fontana, Gambartes, Herrero Miranda, Uriarte, Ottman, Piccoli and McEntyre, among others.
