Historic Downtown & Municipal Decorative Art Museum
During the morning, we recommend visiting the historic downtown of the city and its old buildings, located around 25 de Mayo Square. It’s worth going into Basilica Nuestra Señora del Rosario to see the Stations of the Cross created by sculpturer Eduardo Barnes and the main altar of Carrara marble brought from Italy in the 19th century. Afterwards, visit the Firma y Odilo Estévez Municipal Decorative Art Museum; set aside around one hour for this visit and let yourself be amazed by the priceless relics and pieces of art.

Guided tour in El Círculo
Visiting El Círculo Theater is a must, since it is an icon of the local culture. It was built in 1904 following the architectural style of Italian Neoclassicism. The guided tour lasts a little more than an hour and allows you to appreciate the details of the main hall, as well as backstage stories and curiosities. The tour finishes in the old catacombs of the theater, where you’ll be able to see sculpturer Eduardo Barnes’ works of religious art.

Shopping
Among the main commercial malls, we recommend two traditional ones located downtown (Palace Garden and Paseo del Siglo), and two located away from downtown, which have bigger spaces and stores that will suit everyone (Alto Rosario and Portal Rosario).

River trips
Even though you can also find more adventurous tours, to enjoy comfort during river trips you can choose either a three-floor ship with balconies and buffet style service or a more private and exclusive option that allows you to be carried away by the wind in a sailboat.

Gourmet cuisine
You can find some of the best restaurants of the city both in Pichincha neighborhood, which has become a new gastronomic area, and in the coastal area, which has places offering fare and drink, overlooking a horizon delimited by the river, the islands and the sky.
