Since the late 19th century, cereals were stored in warehouses and grain elevators awaiting transport.
As of 1930, those old facilities were replaced by newer technology: reinforced-concrete silos. Safer and with greater storage capacity, these structures were set throughout the area. The remaining example is the colorful silos that currently house one of the branches of the Municipal Museum of Fine Arts, Castagnino-Macro. Commonly known as "Silos Davis,” they were built by the Plata Cereal Co. company on land previously occupied by the dock and the grain elevator belonging to Kennard Davis.
