A venue aimed at furthering Spanish American Contemporary Art and Culture.
The Center is part of an impressive set of facilities located on the banks of the Paraná River, the preliminary project having been designed by Oriol Bohigas, an acclaimed urban planner from Catalonia. It includes a grand staircase─used as an outdoor stage that seats up to 5,000 people for day and nighttime performances─five 19th century tunnels turned into art galleries, conference room and video library, and a theater capable of seating an audience of 500.
Due to the wide range of spaces available, and to their varying sizes, the activities held in the Center are diverse: plastic arts and architecture exhibitions, graphic, industrial and fashion design exhibitions, film seasons (big-screen and small-screen productions in addition those in the video library), scientific and technical conferences, a variety of courses and seminars, coupled with music, ballet and theater performances by national and international companies.
