Bar El Cairo

The traditional bar used to assemble people with different interests.

Each group had its own table: Peronists; Hugo Diz, the lonely poet who used to put a small notice on his table which read:  “Thinking Man”; and the group of friends led by “Negro” Fontanarrosa, who called themselves “the gallants. Other tables were occupied by musicians, since the bar was a must stop before and after rehearsals and concerts. The atmosphere of the bar called for those who had something to say in Rosario.  It was at this and other long-gone bars (Café de la Flor, Café del Este, Saudades) that musicians from Trova Rosarina discussed their plans and where the current profile of Rosario as a “city of musicians” was forged.
