Family Fun
Let’s start with traveling with kids, which always means higher costs. Thanks to public policies, Rosario can offer great fun in affordable family outings. Check it out by yourself by visiting the Three Amusing Parks for Children: The Island of Inventions, The Children's Garden, and The Children's Farm. The parks —each of them on a different location— offer nonconventional games and activities to enjoy a whole afternoon. Other family outings are the aquarium and Gallardo Museum, both of them admission-free. The Astronomic Complex also offers other activities, such as observing the stars in the Observatory or accessing the Museum of Sciences and the Planetarium.
Historic Downtown
As for urban circuits, we recommend a free guided tour around historic downtown, available every Saturday at 10.00 am with the Municipal Decorative Art Museum (Santa Fe Street, #748) as starting point. This walking tour includes the buildings surrounding 25 de Mayo Square (Basilica Nuestra Señora del Rosario, the Municipal Palace and the Post Office). Afterwards, walk through Juramento Walk and take the National Flag Memorial tour, which dives into the symbology of its sculptures and bas-reliefs.
Urban circuits
Between the Flag Memorial and the colored silos that host the Museum of Contemporary Art of Rosario (Macro), the downtown coast becomes a great walking circuit. A walk along the 20 blocks of downtown coast will take you through green areas and emblematic places, such as Sargento Cabral downhill, Arturo Illia tunnel, España Park, the Island of Inventions and craft fairs on weekends. There are lots of places overlooking the river to relax and have some mate tea or a picnic!
Another way to explore the city is going along the Recreational Street, a circuit where every Sunday, from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm, you can walk, run, ride your bike, skate or rollerblade along 17 miles free of cars, motorcycles and public transport.
Art and museums
Museums can also be included in your limited-budget trip to Rosario. Juan B. Castagnino Fine Arts Museum, for example, is one of the most important museums of the interior of the country. Another tip: Castagnino and Macro museums open on Sundays from 10 am to 1 pm so that visitors can include them in their itinerary as they explore the Recreational Street.
If you like art, don’t miss looking upwards to appreciate the works of the Museum of Outdoor Arts, a one-of-a-kind outdoor museum that features a collection of works by artists from Rosario reproduced in party walls of different buildings, marking circuits that allow tourists to look at the paintings while exploring the city.
Beach and drinks
Sun and beach can also be included in a limited-budget holiday. Go to Rambla Catalunya in the North coast, where you’ll be able to enjoy sandy public beaches surrounded by traditional bars.
At sunset, to continue enjoying the trip without spending much money, a good idea is to take advantage of the happy hours for some home-made beer or drinks offered in most pubs (generally from 6 pm to 8.30 pm). At night, check out the cultural agenda, which includes activities with free admission or affordable prices in the independent theater halls and other venues of the city.
